Sod the Royal Wedding - The Wedding of the Year

The new Mrs Katie Heywood
This really was the wedding of the year. And so it should be the amount of time the bride to be had been planning it. Everything was perfect; from the food to the venue, to the choice of Hymns to the dress.

The day started of at St. Peters in Hindley, Wigan. The sun was shining brightly on the church grounds when we got there to find The Groom looking cool and collect, greeting guests with his best man at his side. each guest at the church was given a lilly to wear for the day. Pink for the girls and white for the boys. It was nice to see everyone looking their best and looking forward to a wonderful day.

After the actually wedding, it was time for the photographs and then off to The Britannia Hotel, Standish, Wigan. After checking in, it was time for the meal. Upon entering the room, we were greeted with many tables, each with a different name. You see, it was the job of the Groom to organise the surprise honeymoon, which is to be Florida. Katie has always wanted to go. Each of the tables in the room were representative of a place they were going to visit: Disney Land, Busch Gardens, Sea WorldKennedy Space Center etc. It's an understatement to say she was over the moon.

Free ice cream for everyone was a big hit
After the meal of soup, beef/pork and a lemon tart, it was time for the speeches. As you would expect, they were all fantastic but Chris and his 'Wonderful Carly' stole the show. Although, I did rather like Scotts's 'Bangor' joke. You have to have a bit of blue at a wedding. Stephen (the father of the bride) started the blue part off with a condom related joke, much to the embarrassment of his daughter and new son-in-law.

Laura looking super-smashing-great!
After the formal meal, it was time for the party to begin. There was a good turnout and everyone was up for a laugh once the beer got flowing. We even had our very own Vikki Pollard turn up, much to the delight of the bride!

Katie and 'Vikki'
All in all, it was a very beautiful day. I wish Mr and Mrs Heywood all the best for the future and thank you for sharing your day with us all.
