| Haigh Hall. The building the Country park was named after. |
Myself and Laura packed up a few things (including my camera obviously), took a blanket and some drinks and set off on the short trip to the other side of town. Parking was a breeze for a change as by the time we eventually got there after going for my Birthday Dinner with my mum, it was getting late on.
On the grounds of Haigh hall, there can be found the hall, a park for the children, an arts and crafts centre, heritage and educational centres, a full 18 hole golf course, a crazy golf course, hectare after hectare of woodland called the Plantations and, last but by far not the least, a working miniature railway and ridable train. it was to this we headed to first.
The train is a bargain at just £1.20 per person. the ride takes about ten min to go round the track, allowing you to take in parts of the Plantations which you would otherwise not get to see by sticking to the paths. Although a shadow if its former self when when a miniature steam locomotive was used.
After feeling the breeze on our faces cause by the train travelling around the track at breakneck speeds approaching a full ten mile-per-hour, it was suggested that it was ice-cream time. With this in mind, we wondered back up towards the hall, bought a couple of 99's, laid our picnic blanket in our usual spot and pulled out the MP3 player. To me, there is no better way to loose yourself than to be with someone who means the world to you, sat alone, listening to music on a nice spring day. Bliss.
Just when we though the day was going perfect however, we spotted a known murder on his holidays. It was none other than A Nightmare on Elm Street's main man... Freddy Krueger! Was nice to see him out of the traditional red and sporting a nice green for a change.
Despite this near death experience, I had a super, yet very quiet Birthday. Hope I get the same again next year because in reality, this is all I ever wanted for my Birthday... To be happy.
